Inquiry: Different Purpose/Different Writing: Review and compare the way the same story is presented in different ways.

Last month it was announced that Billy Slater would commence an ambassador role for Queensland thoroughbred racing. There were many different articles reporting this announcement. Two articles, a statement by Queensland Government and a media article written by the Gold Coast Bulletin both took a different approach in reporting the announcement.

The media statement from the Queensland Government was very direct. It used multiple quotes from both Minister Grace and Slater. Clearly stating the views of both persons. The intention of this statement is to improve the image of the racing industry, after the recent blow of the greyhound racing industry.

The media article written by the Gold Coast Bulletin had a different take on the announcement. The article focused on Slaters previous career as a NRL superstar and his interest in the Australian horse racing industry. Thus creating a link to why Slater is the new ambassador for QLD thoroughbred racing.

Both statement and media article are written for different reasons. Statements to inform the audience of the information present. And media article to help form a connection between the audience and article.

There were many social media posts about the announcement of Slater becoming an ambassador; Facebook,Twitter, Instagram.
